Presentation

Patient presented with complaints of difficulty in swallowing since 10 days and bilateral nasal blockage since 2 months

A pedunculated polypoid lesion arising from the right maxillary sinus, widening the right accessory maxillary ostia extending in the right nasal cavity further into the posterior nasopharynx and the oropharynx abutting the epiglottis representing giant right antrochoanal polyp.

Mucosal thickening in right maxillary sinus adjacent to the polyp.

Mucosal thickening in left maxillary sinus with soft tissue in bilateral ostiomeatal complexes causing its occlusion.

The CT images of the same patient reveal a soft tissue density pedunculated polypoid lesion extending in the right nasal cavity through the right accessory maxillary ostia further into the posterior nasopharynx and the oropharynx.

Case Discussion

Antrochoanal polyp is a solitary polyp arising from the right maxillary sinus and further extending in the nasal cavity and nasopharynx through the maxillary ostium or the accessory ostium.
