Annulo-aortic ectasia refers to a proximal dilatation of the ascending aorta at the level of the aortic annulus, it is also the same level of sinus of valsalvaValsalva.

Pathology

Annulo-aortic ectasia occurs with connective tissue diseasediseases such as Marfan disease and Ehlers Danlos syndrome. It is a cystic medial necrosis, the patients are very liable to aortic dissection, which in may lead to rupture1-3.
