Arc of BuhlerBühler
Body
was changed:
The arc of BuhlerBühler (AOB) is a persistent embryonic anastomotic branch between the 10th and 13th ventral segmental arteries, resulting in a connection between the coeliac artery and superior mesenteric artery (SMA). This arch is independent of both the gastroduodenal and dorsal pancreatic arteryarteries.
It travels vertically, ventral to the abdominal aorta, and connects the coeliac artery and SMA. It is present in 1-4% of individuals and provides a collateral pathway between the two vascular territories.
History and etymology
It is named after Dr A BuhlerBühler who first described it in 1904 8.
