Cesarean section scar diverticulums are a defect in the lower uterine cavity at the site of the cesarean section scar.

Clinical presentation

mostly asymptomatic
postmenstrual spotting
in a study was found to be the only finding in patients with bleeding disturbances

Radiographic features

Can be imaged on hysterosalpingography and ultrasonography.

There may be a ~~defect~~ defect or a focal outpouching at the site of prior cesarean section. Location can be in the lower uterine segment or upper endocervical canal.

Differential diagnosis

prominent cervical glands
post myomectomy diverticula
Gartner's duct cyst: long, tubular structure parallel to uterine cavity
adenomyosis: location of defect anywhere along uterine cavity
