Cesarean section scar diverticulums are a defect in the lower uterine cavity at the site of the cesarean section scar.
Clinical presentation
- mostly asymptomatic
- postmenstrual spotting
- in a study was found to be the only finding in patients with bleeding disturbances
Radiographic features
Can be imaged on hysterosalpingography and ultrasonography.
There may be a defect defect or a focal outpouching at the site of prior cesarean section. Location can be in the lower uterine segment or upper endocervical canal.
Differential diagnosis
- prominent cervical glands
- post myomectomy diverticula
- Gartner's duct cyst: long, tubular structure parallel to uterine cavity
- adenomyosis: location of defect anywhere along uterine cavity
