Dead pixel artifact

Last revised by Rohit Sharma on 17 Nov 2023

Dead pixel artifact is an artifact seen in direct digital radiography systems where a detector element fails to receive a proper signal and therefore appears as a bright white dot in an x-ray image.

A defective pixel on the display monitor can also lead to a white dot appearance but it will not be seen on a physical radiograph and will remain in the same position on the screen if the radiograph is moved.
