X-ray of the fingers is usually taken in PA, lateral and oblique projections.
Projections
Standard projection
One image in the series is usually acquired with the adjacent finger in the field of view to ascertain which finger is being imaged. This is of particular importance for the third and fourth digit.
Note: The thumb (first digit) is discussed under the Thumb Series.
