Indications
- fractures
- metacarpal dislocation
- foreign body detection and localisation
Patient position
- patient is made to sit alongside the X-ray table
- forearm is pronated and palmar surface of hand and extended fingers is kept in contact with the cassette/FPDs
X-ray beam features
- a vertical beam is employed
- the beam is centred over third metacarpal head
