Kissing sign refers to an approximation of two paired or similar anatomical structures and can describe anatomical variation or a disease.
It is described at the following:
- kissing carotids: anatomical variation
- kissing ovaries sign: seen in pelvic endometriosis
- kissing spines: refers to Baastrup syndrome
- kissing contusion (knee): opposing traumatic bone bruising in acute knee injury 1
- kissing tonsils: seen in acute tonsillitis 2
- kissing hemispheres: seen on 18F-florbetapir PET-CT in amyloid-positive brain 3
- kissing vessel artifact: when it is hard to see clear margin between an intracranial aneurysm and nearby vessel resulting in an overestimation of aneurysm size on CT angiography 4
- kissing sign of liver and spleen: when the liver and spleen touches each other in hepatomegaly, splenomegaly or both 5
