Nuclear medicine training in Australia

Nuclear medicine training in Australia can be undertaken as part of or after radiology training through the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) or following basic physician training (BPT) through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).

Structure

Entry requirements
RACP

Prospective trainees must have 1:

  • completed BPT, including written and clinical examinations

  • current medical registration

  • been appointed to an appropriate advanced training position

RANZCR

Prospective trainees must have ref:

  • completed the RANZCR Clinical Radiology Part 2 Examinations

  • current medical registration

  • appointment to an appropriate advanced training position

  • minimum of 4 years of accredited radiology training

  • completed all system-focused training and work-based assessment requirements including researchff
