The uncal artery is a group of small vessels providing arterial supply predominantly to the uncus. It consists of numerous terminal branches (on average 7 branches per uncus) from major intracranial arteries 1, and it is sometimes sub-dividedsubdivided into anterior uncal arteries and posterior uncal, or unco-hippocampaluncohippocampal arteries 2.

The most common origins of the uncal artery include the anterior choroidal artery, the middle cerebral artery (MCA) (most commonly the temporopolar branch), and the internal carotid artery (ICA) 3. In some cases, the posterior cerebral artery (PCA) can also give rise to the uncal artery 3.
