Grossly abnormal metaphyses with focal lucent areas. Abnormal epiphyses with sclerotic rim and areas of interspersed subchondral lucency. Fracture through the metaphysis on the lateral with periosteal reaction.
Grossly abnormal metaphyses, around the knees, hips and shoulders. Less marked abnormality around the elbows and wrists.
Increased metaphyseal uptake globally.
Case Discussion
There is a systemic process affecting the metaphyses of the long bones with a mixed sclerotic and lucent picture, pathological fracture and increased update on the bone scan.
Bone marrow aspirates were abnormal and confirmed Burkitt lymphoma as the underlying cause.
