MRI shows an enlarged midline flow void vascular structure below the splenium of the corpus callosum.
It exerts mass effect in the form of compression of the aqueduct and 3rd ventricle anteriorly with secondary hydrocephalic effect and CSF flow retardation.
Case Discussion
Typical MRI appearances of a vein of Galen malformation.
This actually represents a dilated median prosencephalic vein that is draining via a persistent falcine sinus.
