Focal hypodensity involving the right caudate head and anterior limb of the internal capsule.
Case Discussion
This patient had an anterior communicating artery aneurysm clipped. The infarct may have arisen from sacrifice of the recurrent artery of Heubner during clipping or from vasospasm.
The recurrent artery of Huebner is a prominent medial lenticulostriate branch arising from the A1 or very proximal A2 segment of anterior cerebral artery. It supplies the head of caudate, anterior portion of the lentiform nucleus and anterior limb of the internal capsule.
