Presentation
Patient with a long history of seizures.
Patient Data
There is a cerebral malformation characterized by a left frontoparietal cleft filled with CSF and communicating the left lateral ventricle to the cortical surface. This cleft is lined by polymicrogyria. Right-sided polymicrogyria is also seen extending to the lateral ventricle whereas small ventricular outpouching is seen, suggesting right sided closed lip schizencephaly. There is also the absence of the septum pellucidum.
Case Discussion
This case demonstrates a left-sided open lip schizencephaly, bilateral polymicrogyria (probably closed-lip schizencephaly on the right) associated with the absence of the septum pellucidum. These cerebral malformations are commonly associated.
