Presentation

Cough, raised inflammatory markers. ? LRTI.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Multiple surgical clips seen in upper mediastinum bilaterally, at the level of and superior to the sternoclavicular joints.

No active pulmonary process. 

Case Discussion

Thoracic symphatectomy is performed most commonly in cases of reflex sympathetic dystrophy, Raynauds disease, hyperhidrosis and facial blushing.

The patient had a history of scleroderma, therefore symphatectomy was most likely performed due to Raynaud disease.
