Non-fibrotic hypersensitivity pneumonitis

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Previously healthy young adult, presenting with recent onset cough and shortness of breath.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

There are homogeneous bilateral and symmetric alveolar opacities and numerous centrilobular ground-glass alveolar nodules.

No evidence of fibrosis.

Case Discussion

Upon further questioning, the patient reported working closely with birds recently, which is, along with the radiologic findings, points to acute hypersensitivity pneumonitis as the diagnosis.
