Presentation

An elderly patient presented with dysphagia.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

CT scan of the chest in the mediastinal window demonstrates a symmetrical thickening of the distal esophagus.

Nuclear medicine

FDG PET-CT scan demonstrates high uptake corresponding to the area of abnormal thickening at the distal esophagus.

Case Discussion

Endoscopic biopsy of the lesion demonstrated invasive adenocarcinoma of the esophagus, poorly differentiated.
