Presentation

Electrical shock and disturbed conscious state.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male

Normal position of the feeding tube within the esophagus and stomach. Normal position of an endotracheal tube (roughly measured about 2 cm from the carina).

Minimal right side pleural effusion. Abnormal airspace opacification (consolidation) in a segmental distribution involves the posterior segment of the right upper lung lobe as well as the posterior and superior segments of the right lower lung lobe, associated with centrilobular infiltrate in the basal segments of the left lung.

Case Discussion

In a young male patient with a history of electrical shock and disturbed conscious level, CT of the chest demonstrates changes typical of aspiration pneumonitis.
