Presentation

Loss of consciousness, GCS 8, History of chest infection 2 weeks ago.

Patient Data

Age: 5 years
Gender: Female
mri

Diffuse cortical swelling and hyperintensity in T2WIand FLAIR sequences of both cerebral hemispheres, and cerebellar hemispheres, effacement of subarachnoid spaces.

Hyperintensity signal of basal ganglia, involving dentate nuclei in T2W and FLAIR sequences.

subcortical and deep white matter restricted diffusion in DW/ADC sequences.

No blooming artifact in t2*sequences,

Attenuated ventricular system.

Diffuse cortical swelling, hyperintense signal in both cerebral and cerebellar hemispheres, involving basal ganglia, restricted diffusion of white matter, suggestive diffuse brain edema.
