Presentation

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male
MRI

Multifocal cortical malformations, manifesting as poorly defined and thickened gyri, is present in both cerebral hemispheres suggestive of pachygyria.

Subcortical gray matter nodular heterotopia also is seen in the left frontal lobe.

Case Discussion

Pachygyria is a congenital malformation of the cerebral hemispheres in the background of the abnormal cell migration causes to the unusually thick convolution of the cerebral cortex.

This condition may present with intellectual disability, epilepsy, and rarely with mania.
