Petroclival meningioma

Presentation

55 year old female presented with hearing loss and vertigo.

Patient Data

Age: 55
Gender: Female

There is a large extra axial avid enhancing mass lesion is present at left cerebellopontine angle and petrous apex. Extension of the mass into the Meckel's cave and the posterior cavernous sinus is seen. Extension into the left internal auditory canal (IAC) via the porus acousticus also is seen. Invasion into the Eustachian tube causes to fluid signal within the mastoid air cells.

The IAC is not dilated. Mass effect is seen on the middle cerebellar peduncle, pons and 4th ventricle.  

Evidence of senile atrophic and small vesseles ischemic changes are seen.

 Petroclival meningiomas consist of only 3-10% of all posterior fossa meningiomas.
