Presentation

Chest pain.

Patient Data

Age: 17 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Bilateral pneumothoraces. 

On the right side is more obvious to start with. On the left side, however, an apical pleural line is seen, which is progressively more conspicuous on subsequent CXRs (6 hours and 9 hours follow-up).

Static right-sided pneumothorax. The left-sided apical pneumothorax has enlarged.

Static right-sided pneumothorax (9 hours post-presentation). The left-sided pneumothorax has enlarged further.

Case Discussion

Bilateral pneumothoraces over 9 hours. Right-sided pneumothorax remains relatively stable. The left-sided pneumothorax progressively enlarges.
