Presentation

Injury to the right knee, reduced range of movement, swollen and tender.

Patient Data

Age: 11 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

No fracture or joint effusion.

Fragmentation at the inferior pole of the patella, suggestive of Sinding-Larsen-Johansson disease.

Case Discussion

Sinding-Larsen-Johansson disease is traction apophysitis of the knee, typically caused by chronic overuse and traction, which results in widening and fragmentation of the apophysis.
