Presentation

Shoulder pain, suspected impingement/ rotator cuff tear/ SLAP tear

Patient Data

Age: 15 years
Gender: Male
mri

Linear hyperintensity is seen in the glenoid labrum from approximately 10 to 1 o'clock position.

Supraspinatus tendinosis with a partial-thickness articular surface tear of the anterior and mid fibers in the critical zone just proximal to the footprint, involving roughly half tendon thickness. The tear measures approximately 5.5 mm in transverse and 6 mm in anteroposterior dimensions. No significant retraction of torn fibers is seen.

Infraspinatus and subscapularis tendons are unremarkable.

Case Discussion

Hyperintensity in glenoid labrum from approx. 10 to 1 o'clock position is consistent with SLAP tear. This is likely causing the patient's symptoms along with the articular-sided rotator cuff tear.
