Testicular torsion and infarction

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Left hemiscrotal swelling and redness for the last three days.

Patient Data

Age: 1 year
Gender: Male
ultrasound

Edematous left testis and epididymis. Altered echopattern with the absent flow. Cine-loop shows twisting of the spermatic cord. Left hemiscrotal wall edema. No hydrocele.

Normal right testis and epididymis.

The edematous left testis is round as compared to the normal right testis which is ovoid.

Case Discussion

The patient with acute onset of left hemiscrotal swelling and redness was referred to rule in/ rule out testicular torsion. The ultrasound findings of testicular torsion and infarction were confirmed by surgery which was done within the next few hours. A left orchiectomy was done. The contralateral orchidopexy was done.
