This 90-minute interactive workshop gives you the chance to scroll through 12 emergency abdominal imaging cases under the guidance of Michael Hartung and Vikas Shah. Targeted at radiologists and radiology trainees.

Author bios and disclosures

Michael Hartung

Michael is radiologist based in Wisconsin, USA. He completed medical school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and Abdominal Imaging and Intervention fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has brief experience in private practice and currently works in Madison, WI as an Abdominal Imaging and Intervention faculty.  

He is also greatly interested in exploring the role that radiologists can play in international medical mission work, and is a volunteer teleradiologist for Tenwek Hospital in Kenya, Africa and Diospi Suyana Hospital in Peru. He has created comprehensive online radiology CME courses for the educational company Medmastery.  He uses Radiopaedia and his website (learnabdominal.com) to help medical students and residents learn abdominal radiology.

Vikas Shah

Vikas enjoys teaching abdominal and emergency imaging and has a particular passion for delivering radiology education using social media. He is an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Leicester, and the Radiology Lead for Leicester Medical School.

He taught on Radiopaedia's Abdominal Emergency Radiology Course and Radiology Review Course 2019 and was a co-convener of the Radiopaedia 2021 Virtual Conference and Radiopaedia 2022 Virtual Conference.

Outside of work, Vikas is kept busy by his children and is slowly mastering the art of Lego!
