A region of haemosiderin staining with the blooming artefact is seen on the right side of the dorsal pons, consistent with a prior haemorrhage, probably from an underlying cavernoma. The ipsilateral inferior olivary nucleus demonstrates striking increase in T2 signal and is swollen. No contrast enhancement.
Features are consistent with hypertrophic olivary degeneration.
