There is a 5cm length region of abnormal ossification corresponding to the right rectus femoris muscle origin form the anterior inferior iliac spine. This is most likely the end result of apophyseal injury during childhood. The size of this abnormal ossification is such that it is almost certainly causing impingement during hip flexion and probably accounts for the patients clinically apparent synovitis.
