Case Discussion

Peroneus longus acute calcific tendinitis is a rare condition, unlike calcific tendinitis of the rotator cuff tendons. It is characterized by the deposition of calcium hydroxyapatite. In addition to the calcium deposit surrounding the tendon, an inflammatory reaction around the calcifications and increased fluid can be observed in tendons with synovial sheath. Treatment typically involves physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medication, and in some cases, removal of the calcium deposit.
