Known case of leukemia, presented with fever, dyspnea, and abdominal pain
Patient Data
The spleen is heterogeneous in echotexture and shows multiple lesions of similar character; these show inner hyperechoic component and outer hypoechoic area suggestive of target sign. These features are suggestive of fungal infection.
The spleen shows innumerable variably-sized hypodense lesions.
The liver as well shows multiple tiny hypodense lesions.
Both kidneys show multiple tiny cortical and parenchymal hypodense lesions.
These features are consistent with disseminated fungal infection involving the liver, spleen and both kidneys.
Case Discussion
Known case of leukemia, presented with fever, dyspnea, and abdominal pain. After imaging biopsies were taken and showed spores and hyphae suggestive of fungal infection.
