Jonathan H. Chung

Jonathan H. Chung, MD, is currently Division Chief of Cardiothoracic Imaging at UCSD after having served at National Jewish Health and the University of Chicago Medicine. Dr. Chung is an expert in interstitial lung disease, occupational lung disease, nontuberculous mycobacterial pneumonia, and large and small airway diseases. He has authored over 190 peer-reviewed articles that appeared in highly respected scientific journals, as well as publishing seven books that focus on chest diagnostics.

Dr. Chung also has interest in quality; his work has mainly leveraged the synergy of technology and quality improvement to enhance patient safety, optimize radiologist workflows, support ease of practice, and augment diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.

His devotion to education has been recognized several times, including when he received the RSNA Honored Educator Award in 2013, the Marc Tetalman Award in 2016, and the RSNA Magna Cum Laude award in 2023.
