What are the paraneoplastic syndromes associated with thymoma?
1) myasthenia gravis 2) hypogammaglobulinemia 3) pure red cell aplasia
When differentiation between non neoplastic thymic enlargement (thymic hyperplasia) and thymoma cannot be fully achieved at CT or conventional MR imaging, what imaging modality would you choose ?
Chemical shift MR imaging with in-phase and out of-phase gradient-echo sequences can be helpful. The normal fatty infiltration of the normal or hyperplastic thymus, manifests with homogeneously decreased signal on out-of-phase images relative to in-phase images, unlike thymoma.
On CXR, what finding can signify a locally advanced thymoma?
Elevated hemidiaphragm due to phrenic nerve invasion.
Thymoma
