Presentation
Deep coma after ventricular fibrillation
Patient Data
Generalized decreased attenuation of cerebral parenchyma, cerebral trunk and cerebellum with effacement of the sulci and loss of grey-white matter differentiation, characterizing diffuse cerebral edema. Relatively increased attenuation of the basal cisterns and of cerebral sulci compared to cerebral parenchyma, giving the “pseudosubarachnoid hemorrhage” appearance.
Case Discussion
The findings are consistent with a hypoxic-ischemic brain injury.
Her vital signs were stable after intensive treatment but her family members insisted on bringing her home so that the monitoring was not able to be continued.
