Presentation

Fall from 2-3 steps of stairs on to the right side and unable to weight bear following the fall.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

Right acetabular fracture

Right sided acetabular fracture with central dislocation of the femoral head.

Case Discussion

On examination, he was unable to straight leg raise on the right side and was tender over his right hip. Right leg was shortened and externally rotated as compared to the left limb. Bilateral lower limbs were neurovascularly intact. Patient was referred to orthopedics, who decided on doing a CT trauma series due to the extent of the acetabular fracture and mechanism of injury. CT pelvis confirmed the diagnosis of acetabular fracture.
