Acute appendicitis with appendicolith

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Right hemi abdomen pain for a few days.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

There is a blind-ending, tubular, structure in the right iliac fossa which shows continuation to the base of the cecum along with a hyperdense focus seen within suggestive of appendicolith. The appendix is retrocecal in position.

Marked fat stranding at the peri-appendiceal region and retro-peritoneal space on the right side. No terminal ileal wall thickening or cecal mass. No rim-enhancing collection.

Thickening of the right peri-renal fascias is noted. However, the right kidney parenchyma showed normal enhancement and corticomedullary differentiation. No obstructive uropathy.

Case Discussion

CT findings and clinical presentation of the patient are of acute appendicitis with appendicolith as described above.
