Presentation
Baseline screening mammography.
Patient Data
An oval, well-defined mass with an air-tissue interface sign is seen in the inner central part of the right breast.
Foci of calcifications with a benign appearance are scattered in the right breast.
Case Discussion
This case serves as a prime example of the air-tissue interface sign on mammography, which aids in differentiating a dermal lesion from an intra-mammary mass. The proximity of air to a portion of the margin results in a well-defined border for the skin-based lesion, and a thin, translucent rim can be observed surrounding the lesion, known as the air-tissue interface.
