Back pain, history of inflammatory bowel disease.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Fusion of both sacroiliac joints

Calcification of interspinous and supraspinous ligament (dagger spine)

Ankylosis through marginal syndesmophytes (bamboo spine)

Calcification of the intervertebral discs

Case Discussion

Between 5 and 10% of cases of ankylosing spondylitis are associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), either Crohn disease or ulcerative colitis.
