Presentation
Known for spondyloarthropathy, presented with a chronic low back pain.
Patient Data
There is an abnormal signal of hemi-spherical shape involving the central portion of both vertebral halves and discs at several levels (C6-C7 and from T3-T4 up to L5-S1). They elicit a high signal on T1 and T2, and a low signal on STIR with moderate enhancement on postcontrast sequences. Findings in keeping with Andersson lesions.
High signal on T2 and STIR with the enhancement of the interspinous ligaments in keeping with enthesitis.
Bilateral costovertebral arthritis well-visualized on axial T2 sequence.
Case Discussion
MRI features are consistent with Andersson lesions in a patient known for ankylosing spondylitis.
