Presentation

Ankle pain and instability with a history of ankle torsion three months ago.

Patient Data

Age: 17 years
Gender: Female

There is a high-grade tear in the anterior talofibular ligament with focal soft tissue edema and also mild spraining of the posterior talofibular ligament. Mild fluid in the ankle joint is also seen.

 

Case Discussion

The case is a 17-year-old girl who came to the clinic complaining of ankle pain and instability with a history of ankle torsion three months ago, ankle MRI requested. High-grade tear of anterior talofibular ligament with mild spraining of posterior talofibular ligament and mild joint fluid detected. The common ligament injury in the ankle is the anterior talofibular ligament tear and is a common cause of ankle joint instability.
