Presentation
Left lower quadrant pain and feeling generally unwell. Blood on urine dip. CT performed to rule out ureteric calculi.
Patient Data
A hypodense tubular mass is seen in the left iliac fossa. This mass is contiguous with the base of the cecum which is located in the midline of the pelvis. The surrounding fat planes are clear with no signs of inflammation.
Both kidneys are normal. No ureteric stones or dilatation noted.
The urinary bladder is partially filled, with no stones or masses.
Normal non-enhancing appearance of the rest of the abdominal organs.
Case Discussion
Findings are consistent with an appendiceal mucocele.
