Presentation

Abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female
ct

Note is made of contained fluid attenuating well defined structure posterior to
the uterus within the Pouch of Douglas extending towards the right adnexa. There
is partial linear calcification surrounding the margin of what may represent
septations. The entire finding measures 59 x 18 mm in the axial plane and reaches
toward the cecal pole. A separate appendix is not identified. Findings
concerning for a mucocele of the appendix.

Case Discussion

Presented with 2-day history of abdominal pain. CT suggestive of mucocele of the appendix extending to pelvis, posterior to uterus.

Underwent laparoscopic appendectomy.

Histopathology: Appendiceal mucocele.
