Avascular necrosis - bilateral hip joints

Presentation

Pain during movement, with history of previous corticosteroid therapy.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Male

Loss of height and disrupted femoral head contour, with subchondral erosion and hyperintensity, with marginal osteophytes.

Synovial thickening and joint effusion, more on right side.

Slightly hyperintensity signal in T2/STIR sequences in acetabular articular surface.

Case Discussion

Bilateral femoral heads collapse, with osteoarthritic changes, suggestive advanced stage avascular necrosis.
