Azygos continuation of the inferior vena cava

Case contributed by Frank Gaillard
Diagnosis certain

The inferior vena cava (IVC), having only formed after receiving the left renal vein and crossing behind the aorta, continues as azygos vein, whereas hepatic veins drain directly into the right atrium. This is consistent with azygos continuation of the IVC.
