Evidence of fracture with subjacent bone marrow edema /bruise at the base of the fifth metacarpal with intraarticular extension
Abnormal intrasubstance increased signal and surrounding edema along the course of extensor pollicis longus (EPL) when crossing the extensor carpi radialis longus (ECRL) and extensor carpi radialis brevis (ECRB) tendons.
Case Discussion
The fifth metacarpal base fracture usually occurs as a consequence of notable axial loading force to a flexed hand as noted in clenched fist injuries.
