Ultrasound image of the spleen demonstrates a crescent hypoechoic area at the superior border of the spleen.

Abdominopelvic CT scan with IV contrast demonstrates elongated left lobe of the liver which extends laterally to wrap around the anterior border of the spleen, what known as a beaver tail liver.

Case Discussion

A beaver tail left lobe of the liver, representing a normal hepatic anatomical variant which can be misdiagnosed with splenic hematoma.
