Presentation
Encephalopathy and recurrent orogenital ulcers
Patient Data
There is patchy hyperintensity with mild expansion of the pons and ventral midbrain. There is asymmetric involvement of the right cerebral peduncle over the left. The high signal involves the right mesodiencephalic junction with extension into the white matter tracts. There is patchy associated enhancement.
Case Discussion
This case represents the typical appearance of the central nervous system manifestations in a patient with Behçet disease. The hyperintensity on T2/FLAIR within the pons, midbrain, and mesodiencephalic junction with patchy enhancement are typical in the appropriate clinical setting.
