Bending a Quincke needle for fluoroscopic intervention

Case contributed by Dai Roberts
Diagnosis not applicable

Presentation

Pre-procedure

The 21 gauge Quincke needle is unsheathed and whilst being careful not to touch the needle itself in multiple places, the needle is held 1.5cm from the tip.  The sheath is then used to bend the tip, in the opposite direction to the bevel.

Case Discussion

Bending the needle tip will help with needle guidance in deeper fluoroscopic guided intervention.
