Screening mammography. Familial history of breast cancer in first-degree relatives.
Patient Data
A small mass with an irregular and spiculated margin is noted in the right breast's central upper part, which causes surrounding parenchymal distortion and is highly suspicious of malignancy. (BI-RADS 5)
In addition, a small mass with an irregular margin is seen in the upper outer quadrant of the left breast. (BI-RADS 4)
Foci of calcifications with a benign appearance are scattered in both breasts. (BI-RADS 2)
Case Discussion
Ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy was performed for the bilateral breast masses, and histopathology evaluation confirmed invasive lobular carcinoma.
Invasive lobular carcinoma represents 5-10% of all breast cancer, and there is a greater rate of contralateral breast cancer compared with invasive carcinoma of no special type.
