- Marked subchondral impression of the left femoral head with sclerosis in line with advanced necrosis (Ficat-Arlet III.).
- Sclerotic changes in the adjacent acetabular subchondral bone stock indicating further degenerative changes.
- Two STIR hyperintense, inhomogeneous foci in the femoral head and neck are in line with more acute bone infarcts.
- In the right femoral head a serpiginous band of subchondral sclerosis is seen with centrally preserved signal, and minimal adjacent bone edema. Findings are in line with an earlier stage of femoral head AVN (Ficat-Arlet II.).
- Minimal hip joint effusion bilaterally.
Case Discussion
Bilateral avascular necrosis of the femoral head showing different stages of the disease progress.
