The MRI sequences demonstrate bilateral parenchymal cleft extending from the cortical surface to the lateral ventricles, lined by abnormal grey matter (polymicrogyria).
The frontal cortex appears moderately thickened with poorly formed gyri and a smooth outer surface which may represent the lissencephaly-pachygyria spectrum.
Absent septum pellucidum with small optic chiasma which may represent an associated septo-optic dysplasia.
Case Discussion
MRI features of bilateral open-lip schizencephaly with associated lissencephaly-pachygyria spectrum and septo-optic dysplasia.
